WEEKLY REVIEW:
This week, students have been doing some self-reflection. In preparation for the end of the quarter, students were able to rate themselves on their work habits in my class. They gave themselves a rating and justified that rating. I will be taking a look at these before I enter "work habits" ratings on report cards. I was also able to meet one-on-one with each student to review his/her portfolio and discuss the evidence they have created to meet each of the 4 learning goals this quarter. Students know exactly what evidence they still need to provide next week. The end of the quarter is October 14. We've also been brainstorming ways that students can prove that they've EXCEEDED the learning goals. For instance, I asked the students, "How can a student show me that he/she has exceeded the learning goal of brainstorming without just producing another brainstorming artifact?" I asked the students to think outside of the box and consider what a student could DO or CREATE that would show he/she has EXCEEDED the learning goal (gone above and beyond mastery).
Next week is the last week of 1st quarter. Students know that they are able to stay after school Monday-Thursday, 3:30-4:30, if they need to get caught up or get extra help.
